Where were the Anasazi settled? The 4 corners (Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado)
What are pit houses? a dwelling dug partly into the ground with a roof and ground over the roof.
What is a Pueblo? multi-storied buildings like apartments made from adobe, a kind of clay.
What is a Kiva? Underground ceremonial chambers
Who were the mound builders? Adena, Hopewell, and Mississippian peoples
What did the tribes in the north do ? built igloos, relied on hunting and fishing
What did the tribes in the north west do? were close to forests, and ocean, had wood houses, made totem poles, fished
What did the tribes in the west do? fertile land, abundant crops
What did the southwest tribes do? adobe homes, grew maize
What were the Great Plains? had herds of buffalo and bison, nomads and hunters, many tepees
What was the south east? rich soil from rivers, built permanent villages
What was the northeast? teeming with forests
