Civic Literacy Module 6 Lesson 1 Key Terms

TermDefinition
Civic Duty Required acts that citizens must follow and are enforced by laws.
Civic Responsibility Acts a citizen is expected to do, but is not required to by law.
Jury Duty Obligation to serve on a jury during the trial process.
Citizenship Members of a government system who are entitled to government services.
Naturalizations The process by which a non-citizen applies for citizenship.
Non-Citizens Those in the United States for a specific period granted by the government; formerly referred to as aliens.
Immigrant A person who has been approved by the government to permanently move to the United States.
