Sanctions Punishment, such as the stopping of trade, that is taken against a country in order to make it stop violating international law.
Refugee A person who leaves their home country to escape war, hunger, or another disaster.
United Nations International peacekeeping organization created after World War II.
Globalization Countries around the world working together for common economic goals.
Human Rights Fundamental freedoms that individuals have.
Genocide Mass murder of people because of their ethnicity, race, or culture.
Apartheid Laws that separated racial and ethnic groups and limited rights of blacks in South Africa.
World Trade Organization Deals with the global rules of trade between nations.
International Monetary Fund International organization of countries working to foster global monetary cooperation, secure financial stability, and reduce poverty around the world.
Declaration of Human Rights Document written in 1948 that sets out fundamental human rights to be universally protected.
World Bank Part of the United Nations designed to eliminate poverty around the world.
