| Chrisitan | A person who believes in Christianity |
| Caliphate | The title given to an Islamic ruler |
| Pope Urban II | The Pope who declared the Holy War |
| Crusader | A person who fights in the Crusade |
| Byzantine Empire | The Eastern part of the old Roman Empire. Practice Eastern Orthodox Christianity. |
| The Great Schism of 1054 | The splitting of Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Church |
