Ancient China SS

Han Wudi An emperor that befriended Marco Polo and was the Mongol leader that started the Yuan Dynasty. He followed Legalism ideas.
Liu Bang He was a former farmer who led a rebellion who was responsible for establishing the Han Dynasty. He started the civil service exam and he started the Grand School to train people for government service. He also followed the Confucianism ideas.
Qin Shihuangdi The first Chinese emperor that was both caring and harsh
Marco Polo A famous explorer that wrote incredible stories about his adventures, friends with Kublai Khan, and wrote his own book
Kublai Khan
Cultural Diffusion The development of the Silk Road spread this because people would stop along the way to talk to new people
Mandate of Heaven What the Chinese people believed gave their rulers the right to be king or emperor
Wall of China This was used for protection and defense from the people in the North so they couldn't fight with the Chinese people
Aristocrats and their tenant farmers Aristocrats were rich landowners and the poor farmers who worked the land paying a portion of their crops to the aristocrats as “rent”.
Dynasty A ruling family that stays in power for many generations
The Grand School A school established to educate ancient Chinese people for government service
Loess The yellow soil that blows off the land and into the rivers
Confucianism Place needs of your family and community above your own, seek knowledge, live by the golden rule (treat others the way you want to be treated), follow your ancestors' beliefs
Legalism People are naturally evil, you must be forced to do your duty or face a harsh punishment, the system of laws is more important than people's wishes
Daoism Live in harmony with nature, follow the spiritual force that guides all things, live simply, free yourself from worldly desires
The Huang He River The Huang He River provided silt for irrigation systems (agriculture) and it provided freshwater for drinking, agriculture, and more. The river was very unpredictable so it flooded the area a lot.
Steppes/Plateaus These were most useful for herding animals because they could graze on the grass. They did not have any resources on them (except the grass) though.
Deserts Protected the people in China from outside invaders because the sand could be really hot and hard to cross
Mountains/Mountain Ranges Protected the people of China from outside invaders because of the height
