TermDefinition
Plantation A large farm that grows crops to make money. Many of these places were located along the Mississippi River in Louisiana
Creoles People of mixed European and African or Caribbean ancestry, born in Louisiana.
Treaty A formal agreement between a country or groups of people.
Slavery The practice of making one person the property of another.
"The Great Upheaval" The forced removal of the Acadians from Canada by the British in the 1700s.
Exiled Being deported or kicked out of your home country, usually as a type of punishment.
Primary sources Records made by people who saw or took part in an event. Examples are photographs, letters, interviews.
