Pilgrims They established the Plymouth colony. They created a social contract called the Mayflower Compact that established self government in the colonies.
Catholics They settled in Maryland. When Protestants outnumbered them the colony passed the Toleration Act at the Maryland Assembly to provide religious freedom to all Christians.
Quakers They settled in Pennsylvania. They were pacifists and opposed slavery.
Representative Government A type of government where people elect someone to represent their interest

Virginia House of Burgesses First representative assembly in the colonies. The assembly served as a model for other colonial legislatures.
Mayflower Compact Created by the Pilgrims as a social contract that established self government in Plymouth.
