Mesopotamia | The area of land in between the Euphrates and the Tigris rivers in the fertile crescent, the word means "the land between two rivers" |
Ensi | It was like a priest and a king at the same time. They ruled the religious and the civic areas at the sametime. They were right below the gods in the society pyramid. |
Cuneiform | It was the first form of writing. This was invented by the Mesopotamians, they used a stick to carve it on clay tablets which then had to be dried. |
Hammurabi | He was an Ensi who unified mesopotamia into one kingdom and created his famoiuls code of law, this was the first code of of law in history. |
Akkad | This was an empire near Sumer. They were completely different but they respected each other. |
Sumer | It was the first kingdom to settle in Mesopotamia, they created their citystates and invented lots of life-changing inventions. |
Fertile Crescent | The fertile area around the Euphrates and Tigris rivers in which Mesopotamia was settled. |
Sargon | The emperor who ruled the first empire in history, he made Akkad an empire and ruled it himself. |
