State Word-for-word the preamble of U.S. Constitution (2)? do ordain and establish this Constitution for United States of America.
What are the Branches of Government? Legislative Branch (1). Executive Branch (2). Judicial Branch (3).
What is the U.S. Bill of Rights? 1st Ten Amendments to the U.S. Constitution (i.e. 10 (BoR) +17 Additional Amendments).
What is goal one? To Form A More Perfect Union.
What was the conflict on the Thirteen Colonies? The thirteen independent states needed to work to resolve conflict to prepare for times of hardship/crisis (war).
What were the examples of conflict? Finances, Currency, Military Defense, Land claims.
What did the framers realize? The framers realized we needed to operate as one single unified country.
What was goal two? To Establish Justice.
Citizens needed to be treated like what? To treat all of our citizens equally = "Equal Protection of the law".
What did we need to create? Create a national system of courts (Judicial Branch, U.S. Supreme Court), (National, State, Local).
What did the courts need to do? Hear both sides of a story (Plaintiff and Defendant).
What was goal three? To Insure Domestic Tranquility.
What first was Daniel Shays' Rebellion? First act of violence in a free U.S.
Why was Daniel Shays' Rebellion bad? We were not prepared to respond to violence.
Why did Daniel Shays' Rebellion occur? farmers could not pay taxes, can't sell vegetables, bank tried to take way their homes (Injunction), Marched into court. [ANTECIDENT EVENT].
What major event occurred during Daniel Shays' Rebellion? A depression.
What was goal four? To Provide For The Common Defense.
What was the first constitution? Articles of Confederation [ANTECIDENT EVENT].
Why was the AoC flawed? AoC did not call for army and navy. Could not protect land or sea borders.
What did the U.S. rely on during AoC? Used Militia of Independent States to protect our nations and its citizenry from a domestic or foreign attack.
What is a domestic attack? Attack inside country (Internal).
What is a foreign attack? Attack outside country (External).
What was goal five? To Promote The General Welfare.
What are the Unalienable Rights? 1. Right to Life. 2. Right to Liberty. 3. Pursuit of Happiness.
What were the main ideas of goal five? Maintaining Order, Protects Individual Rights (Liberties), Use Laws and Resources.
What did goal five want to keep people out of? Keep citizens out of poverty (Lover life expectancy), hunger (starvation, little to no food), Sickness (Disease). [Medical History]
What was goal six? To Secure The Blessings Of Liberty To Ourselves And Our Posterity.
What was the antecedent connection of goal six? American Colonists fought the British for freedom, and independence.
What was goal six view on rights? No Basic rights (Civil Liberties) will be taken away now and for posterity (All future generations).
What is the Definition of Form (1)? Created, Establish Maintained.
What is the Definition of Union (1)? Conjoined (i.e. Thirteen Independent States), work as a "team (One Country = U.S.A).
What is the Definition of Establish (2)? Create, Form, Maintain.
What is the Definition of Justice (2)? Protected By/Under the laws; fairness, blind to a persons race, gender social status, economic status, religion, disability, age, immigrant status.
What is the Definition of Insure (3)? Acts with certainty, a guarantee, unquestionable.
What is the Definition of Domestic (3)? At home (i.e. pet=controlled)
What is the Definition of Tranquility (3)? In a state of calmness, peace, serenity.
What is the Definition of Provide (4)? To Call for/To Expect (Provision).
What is the Definition of Common Defence (4)? Presence of a military = Army, Navy, Air Force, National Guard, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, First Responder (Domestic or Foreign attack).
What is the Definition of Promote (5)? To encourage, to solicit, advertise.
What is the Definition of General Welfare (5)? Our health and well-being (social, emotional, psychological), Eliminate Poverty, Hunger, Disease.
What is the Definition of Secure (6)? Protect, Safeguard, Defend.
What is the Definition of Blessings (6)? An opportunity, sacred, a gift --> to give.
What is the Definition of Liberty (6)? Freedom --> rights.
What is the Definition of Posterity (6)? All future generations not yet born (Descendants).
