Townshend Acts Passed in 1767, a tax on imported goods such as paint and glass
Intolerable Acts AKA Coercive Acts, passed in 1774, passed in response to Boston Tea Party, meant to punish the people of Massachusetts: Boston Harbor closed, Assembly shut down
1st Continental Congress Met in 1774 in Philadelphia, organized in response to Intolerable Acts, agreed to form a militia

Patriots Also known as rebels or Whigs, wanted to rebel against Britain
Boycott A form of protest, a refusal to buy goods from a particular person, country or company

Tea Act Passed in 1773, a tax and monopoly on tea to protect British East India Company from bankruptcy, led to Boston Tea Party
