Constitutional Amendments

11th Amendment | No Lawsuits Against States: restricts the ability of individuals to bring suit against states of which they are not citizens in federal court |
12th Amendment | Separate Votes for President and Vice President from each Elector in the Electoral College. |
13th Amendment | Abolishes Slavery. |
14th Amendment | Granted citizenship to all persons born or naturalized in the United States and guarantees all citizens “equal protection of the laws.” |
15th Amendment | Former Male Slaves Have the Right to Vote. |
16th Amendment | Congress Shall Have the Power to Lay and Collect Taxes on Income. |
17th Amendment | Direct Election of Senators by the voters of the States. |
18th Amendment | Prohibition: Prohibited “the manufacture, sale, or transportation of intoxicating liquors” |
19th Amendment | Granted Women the Right to Vote. |
20th Amendment | Moved the beginning and ending of the terms of the president and vice president from March 4 to January 20, and of members of Congress from March 4 to January 3. Known as the Lame Duck Amendment. |
21st Amendment | Repealed the 18th Amendment Ending Prohibition. |
22nd Amendment | Limits the President to 2 terms in Office. |
23rd Amendment | Allows D.C to have 3 Electoral Votes in Presidential Elections. |
24th Amendment | Ends Poll Taxes as a requirement to vote. |
25th Amendment | Provides for the procedures for replacing the president or vice president in the event of death, removal, resignation, or incapacitation |
26th Amendment | Lowers the Voting Age From 21-18. |
27th Amendment | Prohibits any law that increases or decreases the salary of members of Congress from taking effect until after the next election of the House of Representatives has occurred |
