equinox one of two days each year when the sun is directly overhead at the Equator
climate the average weather in an area over a long period of time
precipitation the water that falls on the ground as rain, snow, sleet, hail, or mist
rain shadow an area that receives reduced rainfall because it is on the side of a mountain facing away from the ocean
