Ziggurat A pyramid-shaped structure with a temple at the top
Cuneiform A system of writing developed by the Summerians that used wedge-shaped marks made in soft clay
Upper and Lower Egypt Egypt was originally broken up into Upper and Lower Egypt running along the Nile.
Unification To unite or bring together into one unit
Hieroglyphics A writing system made up of a combination of pictures and sound symbols

Queen Hatshepsut Brought a focus on trade and new goods to Egypt
Social Pyramid Social classes in ancient Egypt. The highest positions were the smallest in the pyramid and held the least amount of people and the bottom was the largest and held the most.

Surplus An amount that is left over after a need has been met. Having this allowed civilizations to focus on specializations and begin trading).

Domestication To adapt an animal to live with humans for the advantage of the humans
Civilization A culture with a specialized religion, government, learning system.
