| Homer | famous Greek who wrote The Iliad & The Odyssey |
| Pericles | leader of the Greek Golden Age; developed many principles of Democracy |
| Parthenon | building with columns, built on the Acropolis as a tribute to the Gods. It showed the beliefs and values of Athens. |
| Socrates, Aristotle, Sophocles | Greek philosophers. Established ideas of the relationship between man and his world. |
| Athens | Famous Greek city-state. Promoted democracy, art, literature and architecture. |
| Direct Democracy | in Ancient Athens. All male citizens participated in the government. |
| City-States | small, independent communities/states. Caused by the mountainous terrain of Greece. |
| Sparta | Strict, military service, male dominated. Warrior society. |
