Amendments
| Term | Definition |

| 1st Amendment | Freedom of speech, religion, press, assembly, and petition. |
| 2nd Amendment | The right to bear arms, citizens have the rights to own guns. |
| 3rd Amendment | Quartering of troops. |
| 4th Amendment | Search and Seizure, Police much have a search warrant and must have probable cause for the court to issue warrant. |
| 5th Amendment | Due Process, Double Jeopardy, Self Incrimination, Indictment by Grand Jury, Eminent Domain. |
| 6th Amendment | Criminal Cases, guarantees a “speedy trial” and assistance from a Lawyer if accused of a crime. |
| 7th Amendment | Civil Cases, you’re allowed to have a jury trial in civil cases (federal). |
| 8th Amendment | No cruel or unusual punishment, Bail. |
| 9th Amendment | Unenumerated Rights, rights not expressly stated by the Constitution. |
| 10th Amendment | States Rights, any powers not specifically given to the National Government are reserved to the states. |
| 11th Amendment | Suits against states. |
| 12th Amendment | Changed the method of electing President and Vice President |
| 13th Amendment | Outlawed Slavery |
| 14th Amendment | Equal protection under the law, due process. |
| 15th Amendment | Gave African American males the right to vote, no denial to vote because of race, color, previous Condition of servitude. |
| 16th Amendment | Allowed for federal income taxes. |
| 17th Amendment | Direct Election of U.S. Senators, allowed people the right to elect their U.S. Senators |
| 18th Amendment | Outlawed the making, selling and transportation of alcoholic beverages |
| 19th Amendment | Gave women the right to vote. |
| 20th Amendment | Lame Duck Amendment |
| 21st Amendment | alcohol (booze) is legal again. |
| 22nd Amendment | Limited presidential terms in office to two. |
| 23rd Amendment | Gave residents of Washington D.C. the right to vote in presidential elections. |

| 26th Amendment | Lowered voting age to 18. Gave 18 year olds the right to vote |
| 27th Amendment | Prevents Congress from giving themselves raises in the middle of their terms |
