Shia Islamic belief that the true interpretation of Islamic teaching can only come from certain religious and political leaders.
Sunni the Islamic belief that the majority of the community interprets Islamic teachings.
OPEC an international organization whose members work to influence the price of oil on world markets by controlling the supply.
embargo a limit on trade.
Shah the Persian word for king.
revolution a drastic change in a country’s government and way of life.
theocracy a government ruled by religious leaders.
