What is the basic type of energy used by all cells? ATP
What does ATP stand for? adenosine triphosphate
What are the 3 parts of an ATP molecule? adenine, ribose sugar, 3 phosphates
How is energy released from ATP? by breaking the bonds between the last 2 phosphates
After ATP is used, what does it become? ADP
How many phosphates does ADP have? 2 phosphates
How does ADP become ATP? by adding a phosphate molecule
What provides the raw materials to make ATP? the food that animals eat, or glucose made during photosynthesis
What role does chlorophyll play in photosynthesis? it is the pigment that makes the leaves green and absorbs light
Where is chlorophyll located in the cell in chloroplasts
What are the reactants in photosynthesis? carbon dioxide, water, energy
What are the products in photosynthesis? glucose and oxygen
All energy in the world comes from where? the sun
What are the openings in the leaves called? stomata
Why is oxygen an important product of photosynthesis? animals rely on oxygen for respiration
How many phosphates does ATP have? 3 phosphates
