| Halifax Resolves | A document adopted in April 1776 by North Carolina calling for the independence from Great Britain during the American Revolution and to form foreign alliances, a factor leading to the Declaration of Independence. The Resolves were the result of one year of discussions in the Colony and finaly signed by 83 delegates in Halifax, NC. |
| Declaration of Independence | First formal Statement by a nation's people asserting their right to choose their government.During the Second Continental Congress in Philadelphia in 1776, the document was drafted by a 5 men committee with the lead of Thomas Jefferson. It was adopted by Congress on July 4th and signed on August 2 of 1776. |
