Bill of rights was the first 10 amendments to the constitution. civil rights & liberties to the individual. Dec, 15, 1791.
Judiciary Act of 1789 established a supreme court, but left to Congress the authority to create lower federal courts as needed.
Funding at par: a term described a practice that involves old bond & issuing new bonds. rec'd by alexander hamilton.
Assumption Us Financial Policy, Hamilton proposed that the treasury take over & pay all off debt.
Tariff a tax imposed by a government on the imports and exports of goods.
Excise Tax a tax imposed on any duty of manufactured goods that is levied of the moment of manufacture rather than at sale.
Bank of the United States proposed by alenander hamilton, established in 1791, to serve as a repository for federal funds.
Whiskey Rebellion 1794, uprising of farmers and distillers in Penns. in protest of tax on whiskey.
Reign of Terror was a period of the French Revolution when following the creating of the first republic. violence often committed by ppl. in power.
Neutrality Proclamation issued by George Washington that declared the nation neutral in conflict with issues of France and Great Britain.
Battle of Fallen Timbers between U.S and the N.W Indian Confederation on the mauwee river. wanted land.
Treaty of Greenville settlement that concluded hostilities between the u.s and the indian confederation. end at great lakes.
Jay's Treaty established a base on which America could build an economy, agreement between u.s and britian.
Pinkey's Treaty Oct 27, 1795. united states & spain. defined the border of the u.s and spanish florida.
Farewell Address a letter by George Washington as a valedictory to friend & citizens. leaving his position.
XYZ Affair a diplomatic incident between French and the U.S diplomats that resulted in the Quasi-War/
Convention of 1800 ended the Quasi War between France and the U.S
Alien Laws restricted aliens and curtailing the excess of an unrestricted press in anticipation of war w/ france.
Sedition Act first tests of freedom of speech, permitting the deportation, in malicious writing of the u.s gov.
Virginia & Kentucky Resolutions political statements drafted in which the virginia and kentucky legislatures took the position that alien and sedition acts were unconstitutional.
