| dugout canoe | a boat that was carved out of a tree |
| asphaltum | a black sticky stuff that washed up on the beaches that the Karankawas used to waterproof things and attach arrow heads to their spears. |
| atlatl | a spear-thrower, an ancient hunting weapon that pre-dated the bow and arrow |
| nomadic | moving from one place to another without a permanent home |
