Land Ordinance of 1785 passed under articles of confederation, lands west of Appalachian mountains were to be surveyed and sold.
Northwest Ordiance July 13, 1787. Purpose of establishing orderly and equitable procedures for settlement & political.
Shay's Rebellion armed uprising in western massachusetts and worcester in response to a debt crisis among citizenry.
Virginia Plan a proposal to the united states convention for the creation of a supreme national government, with 3 branches.
New Jersey Plan a proposal for the structure of the united states. equal votes of states and executive elected.
Great Compromise representation in the house of representatives and equal representation of states in senate. (chosen by state legislatives).
Common Law a body of unwritten laws based on legal precedents established by the courts.
Civil Law the body of laws of a state regulating private matters. criminal/political/military matters.
Three-Fifths Compromise was an agreement reached during 1787, over the counting of slaves after mining a total population. how much each state would pay taxes.
Anti-federalists a late 18th century movement that opposed the creation of a stronger u.s government.
Federalists a supporter of a federal government
The Federalist used to convince new yorkers to send the constitutional convention delegates who would vote to ratify the constitution.
Lord Sheffield an english politician who came from the yorkshire family. provided annual picnics and fireworks for kids.
Daniel Shays an american soldier from the revolution who was one of the leaders of "Shays Rebellion"
Patrick Henry known for his declaration "give me liberty or give me death" a founding father and the first governor of virginia.
