What was the French and Indian War about? The English were fighting to the French and Indians over territory.
What is another name for the French and Indian War? The Seven Years War.
Who won the French and Indian War? The English.
How long did the French and Indian War take? Seven Years.
What impact did the French and Indian War have on GA? It made France give up all French colonies in North America. It also made the Spanish give up La Florida.
What ended the French and Indian War? The treaty of Paris, 1763.
Why is the Seven Years War important? This leads to the taxes that start the revolution.
What is the Stamp Act? The Stamp act is the tax that they placed on almost all documents in the thirteen colonies.
Who issued the Stamp Act? The British Empire.
Who was affected by the Stamp Act? The Colonists.
Why did the British create the Stamp Act? They needed to raise money to cover the cost of the French and Indian war. What better way than to tax the people you were fighting for, right?
What events happened that showed that the Colonists were mad? The Boston Tea Party and the Boston Massacre.
Why did the British tax only the Colonists? The British thought that they could tax the Colonists because they fought for their land
Why does the Stamp Act matter? The Stamp Act makes the Colonists angry enough to start thinking of rebellion.
What are the five Intolerable Acts? The Boston Port Act, the Massachusetts Government Act, the Quartering Act, the Quebec Act, and the Administration of Justice Act are the five Intolerable Acts.
What did the Boston Port Act do? It closed the Boston Port and hurt the trade.
What did the Massachusetts Government Act do? It didn't allow the colony to have a government. There was only one meeting per year.
What did the Quartering Act do? It gave the British permission to go to any house and force the owners to let them in to sleep.
What did the Quebec Act do? It expanded the Canadian territory that belonged to the British to Ohio Valley. That made the Colonists give up more land.
What did the Administration of Justice Act do? It moved all of the trials to Britain.
Where was the first Continental Congress meeting? It was in Carpenter's Hall, Philadelphia.
What colony was the only Colony not at the meeting? Georgia was the only colony not at the Continental Congress meeting.
When was the Declaration of Independence adopted? July 4, 1776.
Where was the first armed conflict? It was at Lexington and Concord. Also known as the shot heard around the world.
How many of the people who signed the Declaration of Independence were from Georgia? Three of the signers.
Who were the three Georgian signers of the Declaration of Independence? Button Gwinnett, Lyman Hall, and George Walton were the three signers of the Declaration of Independence that were from Georgia.
Which of the three Georgian signers was a doctor? Lyman Hall.
The three parts of the Declaration of Independence are...? The Preamble, the List of Grievances, and the Official Declaration.
What is the Preamble? The Preamble states the reasons for wanting to separate from Britain. It says that All Men Are Created Equal.
What is the List of Grievances? It is all of the complaints that they have about the British. The biggest one in NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION.
What is the Official Declaration? It is what officially declared the colonies to be free. It made it the United States of America.
Who were the Whigs? The Whigs is another name for the Colonists that didn't like England.
Who were the Tories? The Tories were the loyalists who supported England.
Who wanted to separate from England? The Whigs wanted to Separate from England.
Who was loyal to England? The Tories Wanted to stay with England.
What did the Treaty of Paris 1783 do? It made America an independent country.
What was the Battle of Kettle Creek? It was a battle in Georgia that the Patriots won. It forced the British to retreat from Augusta.
What was the Siege of Savannah? The British originally took Savannah, GA. Later in the war, There was a battle over Savannah that lasted 90 minutes and was the second bloodiest battle in the war. It was called the Siege of Savannah.
Who is Count Casimir Pulaski? He is a soldier who fought in the Siege of Savannah.
What are the Articles of Confederation? They are America's first written government.
Who were the two signers that were from Georgia? Abraham Baldwin, and William Few.
What is the 3/5 Compromise? It states that slave count as 3/5 of a person.
What is that Great Compromise? It made the Government go from one house to two houses. Unicameral to Bicameral.
What are some of the strengths of the Articles of Confederation? Citizens could vote for people to represent them, and the representatives could declare war and coin money.
What are some of the disadvantages of the Articles of Confederation? There is no strong national government. Also, no leader, no army without permission of the states, and they could not collect taxes. No laws about trading.
