Absolute Location The exact place on Earth. Longitude and Latitude
Relative Location Is the description of how a place is related to other places
Place Describes specific location
Space Is a general objective location or area
Map Scale Is the ratio between distance on a map and the distance on the ground
Reference Map A basic map that displays geographic data
Thematic Map Is specific data themes for certain geographic areas
Graduated symbol A map with symbols that change in size
Cartogram Is a map which the geometry of regions is distorted to show data
Dot distribution convey/show intensity of an attribute (Thematic Map)
Isoline Lines connecting data pints of a same value
Choropleth Data showed through shading of color
Robinson Projection Poles as lines instead of pints
Mercator Projection Navigation charts
Gall Peters projection Correct sizes relative to each other
Density the number of things in a defined area
Concentraation How much substance is mixed with another substance
pattern The geometric or regular arrangement of something in and area
Distribution The way something is spread out or arranged over a geographic area
Region Broadly divided physical characteristics
Formal Region One Predominate/Universal characteristic throughout its area
Functional Region An area centered on a node surrounded by interconnecting linkages
Perceptual Region Area defined by people's feelings and attitudes
