| Cotton Gin | Farming tool that made it easier to remove seeds from cotton. |
| Fifty Four Forty or Fight | Phrase which referred to the latitude lines of the northern boundary of the Oregon territory over which England and America were arguing. |
| Hand Cart | Wagon that goods were placed in which is pushed by a person. |
| Internal Improvements | Roads, bridges, canals, and other similar projects that help make travel easier. |
| Mechanical Reaper | Farming tool that made it easier to harvest wheat. |
| Railroads | Allowed for travel year around and was comfortable for passengers. |
| Steam Boats | Could go upstream or downstream and cut traveling costs and made travel faster. |
| Steel Plow | Farming tool that made tilling up the ground much easier. |
| Trails | Used in the 1800's that made traveling west much easier for settlers. |
