| Term | Definition |

| Culture | The behavior (e.g. language, food, dress, dance, art) and beliefs (e.g. religion, holidays, and traditions) of a country or group of people. |
| Cultural Diffusion | When one culture influences another culture. |
| Trade | The exchange of goods. |
| Goods | Items that are traded. |
| Diseases | An illness or sickness that can lead to death. |
| Columbian Exchange | The exchange or trade of goods and other things such as diseases between the European explorers and the Native Americans in North and South America. |
| Immunity | The ability of a person's body to fight a disease. |
| Small Pox | A dangerous disease brought over Europe that killed Native Americans. |
| Measles | Usually a disease found in children with red spots on their skin, came over from Europe and killed Native Americans. |
| Influenza | Disease from Europe that killed Native Americans; also known as the flu. |
| Plantation | A large farm for cotton, sugar, and tobacco that used slaves as workers. |
| Middle Passage | Voyage of the slaves from Africa to the Americas across the Atlantic Ocean. |
| Triangle Trade | Exchange of goods between Africa, the Americas and Europe. |
| African Slave Trade | Time during which 11 million Africans were sent to the Americas to work on plantations. |
| Turning Point | A moment in which the course of events is turned into a new direction. |
