More pathologies affecting the skeletal system

| ankylosis | abnormal condition of stiffness |
| arthrosclerosis | stiffness of the joints, especially in the elderly |
| synovitis | inflammation of the synovial membrane that results in swelling and pain of the affected joint |
| subluxation | partial dislocation of a joint |
| spondylosis | stiff, immobile condition of vertebrae caused by joint degeneration |
| gout | a type of arthritis characterized by deposits of uric acid crystals in the joints, usually beginning with the big toe. Joints are typically warm, red, and excruciatingly sensitive. |
| Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (JRA) | An autoimmune disorder manifesting as arthritis in a patient < 16 years of age. Many children with JRA outgrow it. |
| spina bifida | a congenital defect that occurs during early pregnancy when the spinal canal fails to close completely around the spinal cord to protect it |
| osteomalacia | abnormal softening of bones in adults |
| short stature | a condition resulting from the failure of the bones of the limbs to grow to an appropriate length compared to the size of the head and trunk. Formally known as dwarfism |
| talipes | describes any congenital deformity of the foot involving the talus (ankle bones) AKA Club foot |
| crepitation | the grating sound heard when the ends of a broken bone move together |
