A Geographer’s World Notes

TermDefinition
Geography the study of the world, its people, and the landscapes they create.
landscape all the human and physical features that make it a place unique.
region a part of the world that has one or more common features that distinguish it from the surrounding areas.
map a flat drawing that shows all or part of Earth’s surface.
globe a spherical, or ball-shaped, model of the entire planet.
environment includes land, water, climate, plants, and animals.
Physical geography the study of the world’s physical geographic features.
Human geography the study of the world’s human geographic features.
Cartography the science of making maps.
Meteorology the study of weather and what causes it.
