| longitude | Imaginary lines used to measure distance east and west of the prime meridian |
| technology | The use of scientific discoveries to solve a problem or complete a task |
| eras | A period in history |
| chronology | The order in which events occur |
| credibility | Trustworthiness, believability |
| point of view | How a person sees the world |
| Primary source | Document or object created during the time being studied |
| secondary source | An account of an event written by someone who did not witness it |
| compass rose | The compass rose shows the cardinal and intermediate directions on a map |
| map scale | The map scale shows the relationship between distances on a map and distances on earth |
| map key or map legend | Gives the meaning of the colors and symbols on a map |
| landform | A natural feature of the earth's surface |
