Lexington and Concord The shot that was heard around the world; which started the whole war. The British leader said, “Don’t fire unless fired upon”
Bunker Hill Started with the Patroits being poor on supplies. Boston sent Benedict Arnold and 400 men to attack the British at Fort Ticonderoga, colonists did not win. But, killed double the amount of colonists that were killed. Showed they were strong.
New York- (Battle of Long Island) ) Washington moved colonists to New York to protect them. Since New York is on a island, the British could easily surrond and defeat them but Washington put all his effort into it. But, the British captured the Patroits as well as their supplies.
New Jersey/Trenton Soldiers contract expired on Dec. 31st had to hire the mirciens to fight. They rowed across the Delaware river. Was on Christmas so the British were tired from parties. The Patriots took more than 900 soldiers. -important victory for the Patriots.
Saratoga 1st major battle victory for Americans,came face-to-face with British. French and Spanish sent soldiers to help America, Dutch sent money. British went south to recupperate-people in the south were loyalists-friends w/ British
Yorktown The last major battle in the American Revolution. The British had ships and people waiting for the Americans. The Americans surronded them with both ships and people around them. The British surrendered.
