Why was Massachusetts founded? A place where Puritans could follow the rules of the Bible and serve their God.
Why was Rhode Island founded? More religious freedoms
Who founded Rhode Island? Roger Williams

Why was Connecticut founded? He wanted a community were all men could vote.
Why was Pennsylvania established? For all Christians to live together in peace.
Who established Pennsylvania? William Penn
Who is responsible for the establishment of Maryland? Lord Baltimore
Why was Maryland founded? As a refuge for Catholics
Who established the Carolinas? King Charles II
Why were the Carolinas established? To keep Spain and France out of the area.
Why was Georgia founded? for the poor and debtors
Who established Georgia? James Oglethorpe
Why was Charles Town important to the Southern Colonies? Tobacco, rice, and indigo were bought, sold and exported at this port.
What did William Penn accomplish? He gave Pennsylvania colonists a representative government.
What was a growing industry in New England? shipbuilding
What effect did the Great Awakening have on the colonies? It led to new ways of thinking about religion.
Which three continents were part of the triangular trade route? North America, Europe, and Africa
Which colony was started as a place where debtors could start new lives? Georgia
Why was Virginia's government important? It had the first elected legislature
What did the proprietors of New York and New Jersey want? They wanted to make money for the colonies.
What happened after the Pequot War? More colonists moved into American Indian lands in New England.
Why did Roger Williams form the colony of Rhode Island? He wanted to keep government separate from the church.

Why did the Puritan leaders banish Roger Williams and Anne Hutchinson from Massachusetts Bay Colony? They were dissenters who wanted more religious freedoms.
What was the Toleration Act in Maryland? The first law in North America to promise that all Christians could worship freely.
