Era of Good Feelings a time of prosperity in the United States
The American System a plan to make the United States more independent and to build infrastructure using loans made by the new Second Bank of the United States
Erie Canal a man-made ‘river’ that connected the Great Lakes to New York ; dramatically increased movement of manufactured goods to the West and agricultural products to the East more quickly and cheaply, people could also travel
Nationalism the idea that a person belongs to a nation before any other political area
Sectionalism the belief that the region of a country is more important than tithe country as a whole
Missouri Compromise an agreement between northern and southern states that stated that all new states admitted to the Union after 1820 would be free states if they were above the imaginary line drawn @ 36 30”
Monroe Doctrine a statement by the United States that told European countries to stay out of the Western Hemisphere and the United States would be the guardian of the area; a change from Washington’s foreign policy
Free Enterprise System an economic system that allows people to create businesses without much government control; businesses are allowed to succeed or fail based on whether consumers (buyers) like what they sell and they price at which they sell it.
