Why was Rome’s geographic location important? Rome was central to Italy, and the known Western World.
How did Italy’s geography and climate influence Rome’s development? Its mild climate and rivers helped provide Romans supply of food and fresh water.
How did common currency impact the Roman Empire’s trade? Using a common currency helped to increase trade in the Roman Empire.
How did the Roman Senate gain power? They controlled Rome’s finances, which gave them power over magistrates.
How did the exchange of people and culture influence trade? Roman merchants found a market for their products in Rome.
How did the Roman Empire influence the development of language? Many modern languages developed from Latin.
How did the unity of the Roman Empire affect trade in the Mediterranean area? Unity led to a period of peace allowing trade to grow.
How did the Romans improve upon ancient Greek architecture? The Romans used concrete and vaults to build structures.
