Civics Module 3 Lesson 3 Key Terms

TermDefinition
Voting Districts Small area created by state or local governments to administer elections.
Redistricting Redrawing political voting districts.
Gerrymandering When one political party draws voting districts that give their party an advantage.
Referendum A way for citizens to approve or reject a state or local law.
Local Act A law passed by the General Assembly that only applies to, or effects, a small number of local governments or counties.
Annexation When a city expands to include new territory.
Grassroots The ordinary people of a community or members of an organization who join together to take political action.
