Feudalism brought order to Europe with social ranks and providing defense against foreign invaders.
The bottom of the Feudal Pyramid is made up of peasants and serfs.
Medieval manors can be best described as self-sufficient economic units.
In exchange for land, vassals promised to provide their land in exchange for military protection.
How does manor system work? Manors DID NOT depend on trade with cities to survive. They were self sufficient by having their own food, clothes, etc.
How did the Bubonic Plague affect medieval society? Manors experiences a shortage of workers and towns were abandoned.
What was one result of the increase of trade that followed the end of the Crusades? Kings became wealthy and politically stronger.
During the Black Death, when surviving serfs asked for higher wages, how did manor lords respond? They passed laws that limited the movement and wages of serfs.

What were the results of the Black Death on Medieval Europe? All social classes were affected ending Feudalism. Due to increased trade, the manor system failed and kings became wealthy from increased taxes. Church membership fell and people called for church reform.
