George Washington first president of the United States in 1789. Established the first cabinet, passed the Bill of Rights and Judicial Act of 1789
Cabinet a group of top executive advisers to the president.
Hamilton’s Economic Plan Alexander Hamilton Secretary of Treasury proposed a 4-part plan for getting the nation on a sound financial basis: Repay debt for American Revolution, a national bank, whiskey tax, and protective tariffs.
Protective Tariff a tax on imported items designed to protect a country’s industries from foreign competition. (protects the home country- USA)
Whiskey Rebellion group of hostile western farmers rebelled against the new whiskey tax.
Proclamation of Neutrality 1793 prohibited Americans for fighting in the war between France and Britain, barred warships from American ports and created a new navy.
Impressment seizing people against their will and forcing them to serve in the military or other public service.
Jay's Treaty negotiated a treaty with Britain to withdraw from American soil and to promote trade.
Pinckney Treaty negotiated treaty with Spain, settling American borders, and free navigation of the Mississippi River and trade in New Orleans.
Farewell Address warned against alliances, political parties, and debt.
