| Guerrilla Warfare | a hit and run technique used in fighting a war; fighting by small bands of warriors using tactics such as sudden ambushes. |
| Henry Hamilton | British officer in the west. Encouraged Native American raids of frontier towns. Also known as the "Hair Buyer" because he would pay for scalps of the settlers. Enemies with George Rogers Clark. |
| George Rogers Clark | American hero in the west. Is going to capture Kaskaskia and Vincennes from the British. This is going to allow settlers to easily get supplies, weapons and more soldiers in the area. |
| Kaskaskia | In present day Illinios. It is a British outpost that will be captured by Patriot forces. |
| Vincennes | Originally held by the British. Is going to be captured by Clark, then recaptured by Hamilton. Eventually Clark will take it back from Hamilton. Strengthened the American position in the West. |
| John Paul Jones | American Naval Hero. Is going to lead the sailors of the Bonhomme Richard to victory over the British Ship Serapis. During the battle he will say "I have not yet begun to fight!" |
| Bonhomme Richard v. Serapis | The American ship Bonhomme Richard is going to fight in a battle against the British ship the Serapis. The battle will last for three hours. The Americans will defeat the British but the Bonhomme Richard will sink shortly after victory. |
| Charleston | Stronghold of the Patriots in the South. The British Commander Clinton will march in and take the city. Marks the worst defeat for the Americans in the war because the British take so many prisoners. |
| General Charles Cornwallis | Replaces Clinton as commander of British forces in the South. Will lose at the Battles of Kings Mountain, Cowpens, and Guilford Courthouse. Leads the troops to Yorktown and is the general for the last major battle of the war. |
| Francis Marion | "The Swamp Fox" in South Carolina. Will use guerrilla warfare against the British. Attacks and then hides in the swamp. "The devil himself could not catch him." |
| Bernardo de Galvez | Loaned thousands of dollars to the Patriot cause, opened the Port of New Orleans, takes an army to capture the towns of Mobile, Natchez, Baton Rouge and Pensacola. These are going to help ship supplies around the south. |
| Kings Mountain | Cornwallis and the British army encounter American sharp shooters and are forced to retreat. This is the battle where the southern loyalists become patriots. They are tired of fighting and are convinced that the Americans can win. |
| Cowpens and Guilford Courthouse | Amreican Nathanael Greene verses General Cornwallis. Cornwallis loses these battles and decides that the British need to leave the South because they will not be able to win there, moves the troops to Yorktown, VA. |

| Comte de Rochambeau | Commander of the French forces that arrive in Newport, RI. He will march them to Yorktown to fight alongside the Continental Army and George Washington. |
| Yorktown | The last major battle of the war. Not a good location because Washington will trap the British on the peninsula. After this battle the British decided the war was too costly to pursue. |
| Benjamin Franklin, John Jay, and John Adams | American representatives to discuss peace terms to end the war. |
| Treaty of Paris of 1783 | Britain will recognize America as an independent country. Territory stretches from Canada to Florida and Atlantic to Mississippi River. Can fish off of Canada. Troops leave the US. |
| Treay of Paris of 1783 | United States will pay back debt to British merchants. Advise colonies to return land to the Loyalists. |
| The Newburgh Conspiracy | The Soldiers of the Continental Army were not going to go home until their pensions were paid. However, Congress did not have the money to pay them all dur to inflation. Washington will convince the men to be patient, and Congress to hurry. |
