What order did General Gage give his soldiers that night? gave strict orders to not to let any colonist leave Boston that night
Who found out about the British plans and rode to warn the colonists? Paul Revere
What two mean helped Paul Revere warn the colonist? William Dawes and Samuel Prescott
What happened to Paul Revere on his midnight ride? He was spotted by British soldiers and was captured.
Who is William Diamond? a shoemaker who helped Revere warn the colonist of the British attack
Who is Prince Estabrook? one of several African Americans to answer the call to arms
Who is John Parker? Captain of the Lexington minutemen
Describe what happened when the British arrived at Lexington. They surrounded Captain Parkers men. The British Major yelled lay down your arms and someone fired. British soldiers opened fire and killing 8 and wounding 9 minutemen. This was a short battle
What was the 1st shot at Lexington later known as? "the shot heard around the world"
What did the women do to help at Concord? they hid the military supplies in fields and barns all over town.
Who won the battle at Concord? Patriots
Who was William Prescott? Patriot colonel who led 1,200 men up the hills of Chalestown
Why did the Patriots want to control Bunker Hill and Breed's Hill? if they could control the hills they could bring up cannons and fire them down on the British in Boston
Describe the Battle of Bunker Hill. The British fired on the fort and marched up the hill. The Patriots waited until the British were within a hundred feet of the fort. British attacked 3 times and captured the hill.
