| Canadian Shield | Rocky, flat region, inside Canada, covering nearly two million square miles that wraps around Hudson Bay. |
| Provinces | a political unit; similar to a state in the United States |
| Parliament | is a legislative body of government; similar to Congress in the United States |
| Prime Minister | head of an elected government; similar to the President of the United States but has different powers and may share powers with another leader like a monarch. |
| Reserve | public land set aside for conservation or native peoples by the government |
| Terrorism | the use of, or threatened use of, force or violence against individuals or property for the purpose of intimidating or causing fear for political or social ends. |

| Megalopolis | a region in which several large cities and sur-rounding areas grow together. |
| Free Enterprise | an economic system in which private individuals own most of the resources, technology, and businesses, and can operate them for profit with little control from the government. |
| Export | a product or good that is sold from one economy to another |
| Suburb | community touching the borders of the central city or touching other suburbs that touch the city. |
| Continental Divide | the line of the highest points in North America that marks the separation between rivers flowing eastward and westward. |
