| Absolute Chronology | Determines the age of a feature or event in years. |
| Conflicting Territorial Claims | When two or more nations claim the same area and have to fight for it |
| Defining Characteristics | A property held by all members of a class of object that is so distinctive that it is sufficient to determine membership in that class |
| Eras | A span of time defined for the purposes of chronology or |
| Exploration | The action of traveling in or through an unfamiliar area in order to learn about it |
| Gold | A yellow precious metal, used especially in jewelry and decoration and to guarantee the value of currencies |
| Historians | An expert in or student of history |
| Major Eras | A point in time, especially one beginning a new or distinctive period |
| Mapping | An operation that associates each element of a given set (the domain) with one or more elements of a second set (the range) |
| Relative Chronology | A chronology that determines the age of a feature or event relative to the age of other features or events |
| Settlement | A place, typically one that has hitherto been uninhabited, where people establish a community |
