Absolute Chronology Coast A chronology that determines the age of a feature or event in years.
Conflicting Territorial Claims A territorial dispute or boundary dispute is a disagreement over the possession or control of land between two or more territorial entities.
Defining Characteristic A property that defines that which possesses it.
Era A long and distinct period of history with a particular feature or characteristic.
Gold A yellow precious metal, used especially in jewelry and decoration and to guarantee the value of currencies.
Historians An expert in or student of history, especially that of a particular period, geographical region, or social phenomenon
Exploration The action of traveling in or through an unfamiliar area in order to learn about it.
Mapping The act or process of making a map
Relative Chronology A chronology that determines the age of a feature or event relative to the age of other features or events (for example, younger than or older than).
Settlement A place where people come to live or the process of settling in such a place
1519 A 1519 expedition led by Alonzo Álvarez de Pineda sailed west from Florida toward Mexico, mapping the coastline as they traveled.
Era: Age of Contact The wave of exploration that began with Columbus' voyage in 1492 didn't take long to reach the land that is now Texas. Spain's conquest of the Americas began on a series of islands in what is now the Caribbean Sea.
