Era: Age of Contact The wave of exploration that began with Columbus' voyage in 1492 didn't take long to reach the land that is now Texas. Spain's conquest of the Americas began on a series of islands in what is now the Caribbean Sea.
Alonso Álvarez de Pineda he was a Spanish Conquistador and cartographer who was first in Texas history.
Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca was a Spanish explorer of the New World, and one of four survivors of the 1527 Narváez expedition.
