Early Explorers

TermDefinition
Absolute Chronology A chronology that determines the age of a feature or event in years.
Coast the part of the land near the sea; the edge of the land.
Conflicting Territorial Claims A territorial dispute or boundary dispute is a disagreement over the possession or control of land between two or more territorial entities.
Defining Characteristics A property held by all members of a class of object that is so distinctive that it is sufficient to determine membership in that class. (Ex. Happy, Round, Green)
Eras An era is a span of time defined for the purposes of chronology or historiography, as in the regnal eras in the history of a given monarchy, a calendar era used for a given calendar, or the geological eras defined for the history of Earth.
Exploration Exploration is the act of searching for a purpose
Gold a yellow precious metal, the chemical element of atomic number 79, used especially in jewelry and decoration and to guarantee the value of currencies.
Historian an expert in or student of history, especially that of a particular period, geographical region, or social phenomenon.
Major Eras Eras that are more important that others
Mapping The making of a map.
Relative Chronology A chronology that determines the age of a feature or event relative to the age of other features or events
Settlement A place where someone/something takes a home in
1519 A specific year, 501 years earlier than today.
Era: Age of Conflict An era of war.
France and Spain Spanish Alonso Álvarez de Pineda Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca A conqueror that constantly went from Slave, to Friend in an Indian tribe and eventually escaped after putting up with it for too long.
