Types of Maps

Types of Maps-Test Wed., Oct 7

TermDefinition
Political Map shows features such as national or state borders, capital cities, and other major cities
Physical Map shows physical features (landforms and bodies of water)
Road Map shows major highways or interstates that connect cities or towns
Resource Map shows what kinds of resources are found in a particular place - uses symbols to represent different resources (like salt, seafood, cotton)
Population Density Map shows which parts of a region are heavily populated and which parts are lightly populated - maps are shaded various tints
Precipitation Map shows the amount of rainfall an area has throughout the year
