Ancient American Civilizations

| Culture | A set of beliefs and way of life that is special to a certain group. |
| Hunter-gatherers | Instead of staying in one place, they traveled to hunt and gather food. |
| Agriculture | Planted and raised their own food. |
| Civilization | Cultures with these complex ways of life are called. |
| Irrigation | They built systems for bringing water to dry fields called Irrigation. |
| Adapt | Change. |
| Bison | A large animal that once roamed the plains by the millions. |
| Economy | Is the system by which a group makes,shares,and uses goods. |
| Nomads | moved often to search for food. |
| Government | Systems for making rules and decisions. |
| Council | might be made up of leaders from the group's main families. |
| League | A group whose members share the same goals. |
| Ancestor | A relative who lived in the past. |
