What feature made the Southern colonies unique? LArge plantations that used slave labor
The Mayflower Compact, the Fundamental Orders, and town meetings all showed the determination of colonists to do what? To govern themselves and make thier own decisions
Virginians replaced indentured servants with African slaves for what reason? Africans were used to farming in Africa, they did not gain freedom after a few years like indentured servants did, and their dark skin made it difficult for them to runaway to freedom.

What generalizations best sum up the founding of the 13 English colonies? The colonies were founded for a variety of reason...economic, religious, and political

The Magna Carta, which was signed by King John in 1215, made what clear? Even King John had to obey the law...it limited his power
Why were the English Bill of Rights important to colonists? They explained the rights that English citizens had
The right to petition in the English Bill of Rights gave citizens the right to do what? They could ask the government to do something or make a change
What was the simplest way to climb the social ladder in the colonies? By working hard and making money
How was the trip to the Americas different for Africans compared to Europeans? They were forced to come to America...it was not their choice.
