1920's Nativism

QuestionAnswer
Discrimination Negative behaviors directed at a specific group of people.
Xenophobia An unreasonable fear, distrust, or hatred of strangers, foreigners, or anyone perceived as foreign or different.
Racism Discrimination directed at a specific racial group.
Segregation The rule or practice of separating people of different races, classes, or ethnic groups.
Prejudice A negative learned attitude toward a group of people.
Nativism The belief that "native born Americans" were superior to immigrants.
Immigrant A person who comes to live permanently in a foreign country.
Immigration Quotas Laws that passed which set limits on how many people from specific countries would be admitted to the United States.
