Archipelago Chain of islands Example: Hawaii, Philippines
Sea Large body of saltwater completely or partially enclosed by land Example: Mediterranean Sea, Baltic Sea, Arabian Sea
Mountain range A series of mountain ridges Example: Himalayas, Andes, Adirondacks
Bay A broad inlet of sea where the land curves inward Example: Bay of Bengal, Chesapeake Bay
Ocean A very large expanse of salt water Example: Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean
Peninsula Land that is bordered by water on 3 sides Example: Indian, Arabian, Florida
Desert A dry barren of land Example: Sahara Desert
River Natural watercourse, freshwater traveling toward a larger body of water Example: St. Lawrence River, Amazon, Tigris, Euphrates, Nile
Glacier A slow moving mass or river of ice Example: Antarctica, Greenland
Jungle (Rain Forest) Land covered with dense vegetation and a wet climate Example: Amazon Rain forest
Gulf Deep inlet of sea, surrounded by land, with a narrow mouth Example: Gulf of Mexico, Persian Gulf
Volcano A mountain or hill, typically conical, having a crater or vent through which lava, rock fragments, hot vapor, and gas are or have been emitted Example: Mt. Fuji, Mt. St. Helens
