Solvent | The substance that dissolves in a solute |
Solution | The product of the solute dissolving the solvent |
Solute | The substance that dissolves the solvent |
Hydrophobic | Repels against water |
Hydrophilic | Attracts water or typically dissolves in water |
Amino Acid | Are organic substances that creates protein |
Nucelotide | The building blocks of nucleic acids(DNA or RNA) |
Peptide Bond | The attraction between two atoms that create a water molecule when the carboxyl group and the amino group combine. |
Lipid | A biomolecule that stores away energy for later use. |
Saturated Fat | A fatty acid chain that only has one preliminary bond instead of two or more. |
Saccharide | A carbohydrate. Also known as sugar |
Specific Heat | The amount of heat required to warm up a liquid |
