Historical Thinking Unit Vocabulary

TermDefinition
Primary Source an original document or other material that has not been changed in any way. It is a reliable first-hand account usually written at or near the time the event(s) occurred.
Secondary Source information is one that was created later by someone who did not experience first-hand or participate in the events or conditions you're researching. For the purposes of a historical research project,  these are generally scholarly books and articles.
Thesis a ONE SENTENCE summary of the writer’s argument
Cause the reason why something happened.
Effect the result of an action
Sequence is a particular order in which related events, movements, or things follow each other
Correlation a mutual relationship or connection between two or more things.
Short Term less than a year
Long Term more than a year
