Historical Thinking Unit Vocabulary
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Primary Source | an original document or other material that has not been changed in any way. It is a reliable first-hand account usually written at or near the time the event(s) occurred. |
| Secondary Source | information is one that was created later by someone who did not experience first-hand or participate in the events or conditions you're researching. For the purposes of a historical research project, these are generally scholarly books and articles. |
| Thesis | a ONE SENTENCE summary of the writer’s argument |
| Cause | the reason why something happened. |
| Effect | the result of an action |
| Sequence | is a particular order in which related events, movements, or things follow each other |
| Correlation | a mutual relationship or connection between two or more things. |
| Short Term | less than a year |
| Long Term | more than a year |
