term definition
mercantilism one nation trying to become wealthy by controlling another nationś economy.
cash crops tobacco, sugar, and cotton sold for profit
charter A document issued by a king outlining the geographic boundaries and government of a colony.
democratic ruled by the people (not a monarch)
Mayflower Compact Pilgrims wrote this document about how they would govern themselves in the colonies.
rights powers of the people that should not be taken away
Magna Carta King John wrote this document listing the rights of all the free people in his kingdom.
Parliament Representatives from the kingdom in England that make the laws.
English Bill of Rights English Parliament passed this limiting the Kingś power and listing the citizenś rights.
